Responsibilities

This role involves periodic site visits to review and document structural construction activities from a design verification standpoint. The engineer will not be responsible for day-to-day supervision but will conduct technical observations, verify compliance with structural drawings, and review testing and quality documentation. The position serves as a key interface between the design team and the project site for technical coordination and quality assurance.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct periodic site inspections to review structural construction works for conformance with issued drawings and general engineering practice.
  • Verify rebar layout, spacing, cover, and detailing before concrete pours.
  • Observe formwork stability, temporary supports, and excavation slopes for basic safety and structural adequacy.
  • Review testing reports for concrete, reinforcement, structural steel, and other materials.
  • Evaluate method statements and erection sequences for structural components from a design intent perspective.
  • Perform dimensional checks on selected structural elements during site visits.
  • Review Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and steel fabrication/shop drawings submitted by contractors or fabricators.
  • Assist in reviewing and resolving RFIs (Requests for Information) in coordination with structural engineers in-house.
  • Prepare clear and concise site observation reports with photographs, comments, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain proper records of inspections, communications, and QA documents.
  • Estimate and verify structural quantities (concrete, reinforcement, PCC, steel tonnage) as required.
  • Travel for project inspections within Pune, Maharashtra, or occasionally outside the state.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/ Bachelor's in Civil Engineering required. 
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience. 
  • Field experience of 2–3 years in construction of RCC or steel structures preferred.
  • Strong understanding of structural drawings, GA drawings, reinforcement, and steel detailing.
  • Working knowledge of IS codes, rebar detailing practices, and concrete construction.
  • Familiarity with site testing procedures (slump, cube, steel tensile tests, rebar inspection, etc.).
  • Ability to review method statements, erection procedures, and testing reports from a structural safety perspective.
  • Basic knowledge of quantity estimation for concrete, reinforcement, and structural steel.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong observation, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Reasonable communication and coordination abilities to interface with contractors, fabricators, and consultants.
