Responsibilities

A Senior Project Manager has the responsibility for applying intensive and diversified knowledge of detailing principles and practices in broad areas.  A Senior Project Manager bears primary responsibility for properly executing the project management systems for each project under their direction. They manage a team of professionals, set direction, outline goals, and execute the project plan. A project manager’s roles include contract negotiation, planning, organization direction and control of projects, being a team leader through technical supervision and staff development and contributing to business development.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts needs assessment with client to determine project scope and requirements
  • Attends kick-off meetings to explain design options and gathers information related to schedule and budget
  • Develops project plans and budgets including staffing and resource needs
  • Coordinates project delivery with client, internal and external team members
  • Plans and leads internal and external project meetings
  • Collaborates with architects, contractors, and other engineering consultants to develop engineering solutions
  • Coordinates and guides preparation of construction documents with drafters, modelers, designers, clients, and internal quality control staff
  • Guides/assists other modelers regarding issues such as codes, design criteria, and software
  • Reviews assessment and design task status against budget and schedule requirements
  • Conducts regular quality-control checks of own or others’ work as assigned
  • Resolves project issues (e.g., technical, budget, schedule, billing, etc.)
  • Monitors project staff and provides direction/ quality control as required
  • Monitors project profitability through financial reports and financial review meetings
  • Ensures that project undergoes standard quality assurance activities including design/project reviews, documentation checks, and design checks
  • Completes project closeout (i.e., financial closeout, archive project files, provides project information to marketing & materials database, document lessons learned, etc.)
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate project tracking tools, including work plans, s-curves, % completes, backlog, A/R collections, etc.
  • Promotes our Extraordinary Client Experience (ECX), by building effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations
  • Actively participates in industry, client, and community relations to enhance company image

 

Performs Other Functions as Needed

Qualifications

 

  • 15+ years of prior experience with 10+ years of prior experience in Tekla steel detailing on complex projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage individuals and teams to complete tasks or projects.
  • Ability to mentor and lead individuals and teams, build partnerships, and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Demonstrated career growth that includes experience working on design teams for a variety of building or project types
  • Strong client-service attitude with the ability to multitask and accomplish multiple priorities
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
